Christmas is one of the easiest times of the year to spread the Gospel! Jesus is the Reason for the season, so why not take that opportunity to share the Good News! Christmas gospel tracts provide a simple way to explain that Christmas celebrates the birth of Jesus Christ and to invite readers to consider the message of salvation.
These Christmas tracts tell the biblical story of Jesus’ birth. The true story of Christmas is that God sent his Son, Jesus, to be born on earth because he wants us to be with him forever! Captivating animations throughout the tract will ensure you have a fully attentive audience.

The True Story of Christmas
More than 2000 years ago, there lived a young woman named Mary. She was preparing to be married to a man named Joseph. One day, an angel appeared to Mary and said, “Listen! You will soon have a son, and you will name him Jesus. The baby will be holy and will be called the Son of God.”
Around the time for Jesus to be born, the Roman rulers ordered everyone to return to their hometown to be counted. Joseph and Mary had to travel to the town of Bethlehem. When Joseph and Mary arrived at Bethlehem, the town was very crowded. They had to stay where animals were kept.
While they were there, baby Jesus was born. Mary wrapped him with pieces of cloth and placed him in a manger. That night, in a field near Bethlehem, shepherds were looking after their sheep.
An angel appeared to them and said, “I bring you good news of great joy for all people. Today in Bethlehem, a Savior has been born. He is Christ the Lord!” Then many more angels appeared, praising God for the birth of Jesus.
Sometime later, wise men from the east saw a bright, new star in the sky. They knew it was a sign that a great King had been born. The wise men followed the star to look for the child.
When they found Jesus, they bowed down, worshiped him and gave him gifts. This is the true story of Christmas. Christmas is the day we celebrate the birth of Jesus.
The Gospel Message in a Christmas Tract
God sent his Son, Jesus, to be born on earth because he loves us very much. For God loved the world so much that he gave his one and only Son, so that everyone who believes in him will not perish but have eternal life. John 3:16
God loves us so much that he wants to be with us forever and ever! But we cannot be with God because we have all sinned. We have all done things that are wrong. Telling lies, fighting and stealing are examples of sins.
So God sent his Son, Jesus, to come to earth to die on the cross so that all of our sins can be forgiven. And on the third day, Jesus became alive again!
If you choose to accept this perfect Christmas gift of Jesus, you can be with God forever and ever. You can accept Jesus by:
- Admitting that you have sinned and asking God to forgive you,
- Believing that Jesus died on the cross to be punished instead of you, and
- Inviting Jesus into your life to help you turn away from sin.
A Prayer Included in the Tract
You can talk to Jesus about this right now:
Dear Jesus, I know that I have sinned. I believe that you died on the cross to take the punishment for my sins. Please forgive all of my sins. Please come into my life and help me turn away from doing wrong.
Thank you that because you took the punishment for my sins, I can have a relationship with you now and will one day be with you in heaven. In Jesus’ name I pray, Amen

Printable Christmas Gospel Tracts
There are lots of ways to use these tracts during the Christmas season. Although they are pictured in color, they will print black and white. We always use colored copy paper or card stock to print ours. If you like the bright, colorful versions, you’ll want to do the same.
Christmas tract designs can use familiar seasonal themes to draw readers into the Gospel message. The “Jesus is the best gift of all” theme connects the tradition of giving presents with God’s gift of his Son, while Christmas characters, snowflakes, stars, and reindeer can help attract attention before the tract points readers to the true reason for the celebration.
Christmas Tract Design Ideas
The Best Gift of All
A full 50% of the entries we received revolved around the “Jesus is the best gift of all” theme. That’s understandable, because it is 100% true! What set this design by Nathan S. apart from all the others, though, was the excellent artwork.
He drew it all himself, and submitted such high-resolution copies that I was able to use all of it on the final version of this tract.
Can Rudolph Light the Way?
This clever design by Kate D. was adorable and so smart. All the Scripture used in the design helps tie the theme together.
Do Reindeer Really Fly?
This eye-catching tract by Sarah B. takes a similar tack. It uses a secular notion of Christmas to draw readers in and point them to the real reason we celebrate.
All about A Gift
The little girl who submitted this well-articulated idea is only 9 years old. Her name is Jane D. She did a fabulous job designing her gospel tract.
Counting Snowflakes
Micah S. won the 3rd place prize for his Snowflake-themed gospel tract. Since this one is not so overtly about Christmas, you can use it all winter long - even after the holidays are over.
The Reason for the Season
This last free printable Christmas tract isn’t a contest winner; it’s just a bonus. The maxims aren’t original, but they are certainly true.
