Online Worship

Our online services are there for anyone who cannot make it on Sunday, whether you are traveling, under the weather, or just checking us out from a distance. Watch live or on demand on our Worship Online page.

Online worship provides a way to remain connected to the church community when attending in person is not possible. It also offers an opportunity to become familiar with Lakewood Methodist worship before visiting the church campus.

Serving Others

Serving others is a big part of who we are as a church community. Why? Because serving others is how we demonstrate Christ's love and fulfill our mission - both individually and as and as a congregation.

Service can be both inside Lakewood UMC as well as out in the world. Lakewood United Methodist Church and our ministry partners offer a multitude of opportunities for regular folks like us to share God's love with everyone we encounter.

Community programs make a difference in the lives of those around us, while local and global outreach is built into the life of the church. The congregation connects faith with practical care for neighbors and communities.

Sharing the Love of Christ

Sharing the love and light of Christ is another part of our mission! We can do that in many ways including sharing our faith stories, sharing our gifts and sharing our prayers.

Sharing Jesus’s love in deed, is just as important as sharing it in word. This approach connects Christian witness with concrete service, generosity, prayer, hospitality, and relationships.

Children, Young People, and Families

Lakewood UMC is a place for all ages - there is a children’s area with tactile opportunities for kids to help keep their minds busy while they absorb what’s going on in worship on Sunday or they can join Children’s Church after the opening hymn!

The church offers safe, engaging programs from preschool to high school. Children and young people can participate in age-appropriate activities while families become part of the wider congregation.

We have childcare for infants to Kindergarten-aged children, and Children’s Church for 1st-5th grade happens during worship after the opening hymn.

Community and Personal Growth

Inspiring worship services lift the spirit, while small groups, studies, devotions, prayer gatherings, and community programs create opportunities for ongoing growth. The church seeks to offer real relationships rather than only casual contact.

Real Community, Not Just Friendly Faces: Prayer gatherings, small groups, and people do life together here. A warm and inclusive environment allows people to be themselves while building relationships within the congregation and the surrounding community.

Adults have many opportunities to connect within the church community or with community partners. People can find ways to participate according to their interests, gifts, and availability.

Pastor’s Weekly Reflections

Pastor’s weekly reflections address faith, leadership, service, food, justice, welcome, and the challenges facing people of faith. These reflections connect everyday concerns with Christian discipleship and the life of the congregation.

  • Starting this Sunday, Kickoff Sunday, September 13, 2026, we will be resurrecting The Flame as our church’s monthly newsletter!
  • I don’t know how the story of violence and tragedy will end in the Holy Land. But I remain in awe of the work to feed the hungry that World Central Kitchen continues to do there.
  • At Lakewood United Methodist Church, we have a vision statement that I absolutely love which was written and prayerfully worked on by the leaders of the church.
  • Following Jesus isn’t a decision between republican or democrat, but it is a decision between the values we find in the Gospels vs. the values given to us by the world and its capitalism, greed, violence, and fear.
  • A leader should be able to accept when they are wrong and then fix the problem or change what needs to be changed.
  • When we are sinking on the water, it’s Jesus’ hand reaching out to grasp ours.
  • Food is a gift given to us by the world God has created. Food is something that brings us together. Food has been at the root of human revolutions throughout history. And, today, food remains a frustrating paradox.
  • White Christian Nationalism, a veritable weed overtaking the field in which God has sown good wheat, is behind the evil masquerading as Christianity in the US. And as people of faith, we must not turn away from it nor pretend that striving against it has nothing to do with our faith.
  • It’s becoming easier and easier to become less welcoming, less curious, and less thoughtful as a people. And the consequences of that are obvious: we are angrier, lonelier, and less capable of changing our minds once we have made them.
  • What if one way we can repent from our historic sin of homophobia and transphobia is to be a place that proclaims good news, specifically for them instead of just tolerance? What if we can where people who have lost so much can find life?

Finding a Place to Belong

Lakewood United Methodist Church presents belonging as an active part of Christian community. People are invited to participate in worship, learn in groups, serve others, share their gifts, and encourage one another through life’s journey.

We’re a diverse group of individuals who come together to deepen our faith in Jesus Christ, serve others with kindness and compassion, and build strong relationships within our community. A warm and inclusive environment offers a place for people to explore faith, grow spiritually, and contribute to the life of the church.

The church’s central commitments can be expressed through three connected practices: seeking God, serving others, and sharing the love and light of Christ.
