Pearland Church of Christ: Faith, Worship, Fellowship, and Community

Pearland Church of Christ is a growing community of believers whose desire is to worship the Lord in spirit and in truth (John 4:24) according to the Gospel of Jesus Christ. Our goal is to simply worship the Lord using the Bible as our guide.

If you have questions, or if we may be able to help you in your understanding of God and what he wants for you in life, feel free to drop us a line. We are always ready to help!

A Welcoming Church Family

We at the Westside Church of Christ are a warm, loving and faithful family that puts Christ first. We strive to worship God 'in spirit and in truth' and you will find our worship services to be both enjoyable and spiritually uplifting.

If you are looking for a congregation that will support you to grow in your faith come join our family!

We encourage you to come and worship with us and enjoy the fellowship of a happy and loving group of God’s people. We believe our visitors are an answer to prayer and hope that after you visit us you will also feel the same way!

A congregation of God’s people not bound by the traditions of man but the joy of being Free in Christ. We acknowledge the Grace of God, knowing that nothing we can do will cause God to love us less…. and nothing we can do will cause God to love us more.

Worship Services

We believe that worship is a celebration of our faith in God, who He is, and our relationship with Him.

  • Acts of worship include singing (Eph. 5:19), prayer and meditation (Acts 2:42), studying and presenting the Word (John 17:17), giving (1Cor. 16:1-2), the Lord's Supper (1 Cor. 11:23-26), assembling, giving offering praise, assembling, and giving our unwavering loyalty.

Worship with a community of people who are trying to be more Christlike and learn from each other.

What the Church Believes About Salvation

We believe that salvation is a free gift of God. The death of Christ on the cross is the only sufficient payment for our sins. All have sinned, but all can be saved.

This salvation is available for any who put their trust in Christ as Savior (Romans 3:23, 6:23; John 3:16). Those that believe in Christ should turn from sin, confess their faith, and be baptized (Romans 10:9; Acts 2:38; Mark 16:16).

“For by grace you have been saved, through faith-and this not from yourselves, it is the gift of God-not by works, so that no one can boast.” Eph. 2:8-9

Fellowship, Discipleship, and Service

We believe that Christianity thrives through fellowship, which means to connect relationally with each other for support, and with the unsaved to lead them to membership in a church family.

When we nurture fellowship, it makes us fitly joined together for a habitation of the Holy Spirit as evidenced in Ephesians 2:21-22: In Him the whole structure is joined together and grows into a holy temple in the Lord; In whom you are also built together spiritually into a dwelling place for God.

Through fellowship we witness both for missions and ministry according to Matthew 28:19: Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit.

We believe that through fellowship we have a responsibility to make sure all hear the Gospel. Romans 10:13-14 "Anyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be save. But how can they call upon Him unless they believe in Him? And how can they believe in Him if they have never heard about Him? And how can they hear about Him unless someone tells him?"

Growing as Disciples

We believe that through our fellowship we should produce and mature disciples by instilling spiritual habits and commitments.

  • Disciples should be devoted to the Word;
  • to Spiritual Practices;
  • serving with their talents, time, and money;
  • and using one's special gifts in service.

The Role of Small Groups

We believe in the importance of small groups as a tool to promote fellowshipping. Small groups empower Christians to be active in ministry, discipling, and building up the church family.

Small groups will help our church at the same time to grow larger for greater works, but smaller for ministry effectiveness.

Essential Beliefs and Christian Liberty

We believe that there are Essential Beliefs where we must have unity, and Non-Essential beliefs where we have liberty, and in all our beliefs we must show love.

There are many essential beliefs, but there are seven foundational ones of primary focus.

  1. All saved believers constitute the One Church.
  2. There is one Holy Spirit, and He is present in the world to draw people to Christ.
  3. There is one Hope for eternal life.
  4. There is one Lord and that is Jesus Christ, the Son of God.
  5. There is one faith, and that faith is expressed in the Bible as the Word of God.
  6. There is one baptism, which is a free-will response to the salvation offered by Jesus Christ.
  7. There is one God, though He expresses Himself in three personalities, the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.

Sunday Fellowship and Bible Study

Attending church each Sunday is a respite from fast-paced daily living. Attend church at 9529 Magnolia Parkway to reflect, worship God, strengthen your spiritual connections, and focus on Jesus.

There are two meetings in a two hour time. The main meeting is called sacrament meeting.

This meeting consists of songs, prayers, and sermons (or “talks”) given by different members of the congregation and take the sacrament (or Communion).

In addition to sacrament meeting, there are a variety of other classes for both children and adults. There’s something for everyone from 18 months old and up!

Each meet together for a lesson and discussion that are based on a different section of scripture each week.

Faith and Spiritual Growth

…rooted and built up in Him and established in the faith, as you have been taught, abounding in it with thanksgiving. Colossians 2:7

We believe that worship services should be spiritually uplifting, that fellowship should strengthen the church family, and that discipleship should help believers mature in faith and service.

We acknowledge the Grace of God, knowing that nothing we can do will cause God to love us less…. and nothing we can do will cause God to love us more.
